David Cohen, Chairman/Founder, TechStars Accelerating the global eco system
enclosure-voice 1711_ 4/20/15 - Seven years ago, Larry interviewed David Cohen and his partner, David Brown. They had a very unique idea, the question in our minds was, would it work? Today we're talking with David Cohen, Founder/Chairman, TechStars and he said, "Well, in 20 years we'll know. We've got 13 more to go. It seems like it's working, but with venture capital you never know." Ah, but we know they're doing fantastic and growing all the time. TechStars has built a great team. David says, "That's one of the things I'm most proud of. We're up to about 70 people now. People, people, people. That's what makes any startup work, and I think that's what makes TechStars work. It's an honor to work with so many amazing people across the world. Today we're running 18 different accelerator programs a year. So the footprint is pretty extensive now, all across America, in Berlin and London... starting to expand internationally. We think there is a lot of opportunity there." TechStars mantra, 'Give first, try to be helpful to everybody!

Providing insights to tech industry job seekers
UB Ciminieri, Creative Director, Jobber TechTalkenclosure-voice 1713_ 4/20/15 - We are here at C-Level @ A Mile High, sponsored by Colorado Technology Association, and we've corralled UB Ciminieri Creative Director, JobberTechTalk. UB explains JobberTechTalk is trying to give people interested in jobs in the tech industry some insight into the innovation coming all across the industry. That's not just those you think of as a tech company, but places like RTD for example, they're doing some amazing things. So we're trying to give voice to the leaders of those types of organizations, to tell their story and what's going on in tech. So that people looking for jobs really get a good idea and maybe find a cultural fit. But, to better understand where they might be going for a job. Larry asked UB for some examples. "Yes. For new developers coming out of programs and some of the things they're learning..." There’s more…

Mobile devices are starting to talk to each other
Doyle Albee, President, Metzger Albee PRenclosure-voice 1703_ 4/6/15 - We are back with Doyle Albee, president, Metzger Albee PR "...And that brings us to another favorite area to talk about in 2015. And that's being called the 'Internet of Things' ... So we're putting all these different devices on the internet and these devices are not only talking to the internet and talking to me, but they're starting to talk to each other. So not only is that an Internet of Things, but it's also really exciting when we think of all the things we can do and learn. If we could take this data and put it into data sets, what can we learn about cancer, or traffic patterns and how to make that better if we have so much data to look at. So anytime we can get these devices to talk to us, in a secure and appropriate way, without sacrificing privacy that we don't want to sacrifice, it's just an exciting time. We're kind of at that early stage of the internet"...

Trent Hein, CEO, Applied Trust

Using a framework called Secure Dev Ops
enclosure-voice 1710_ 4/20/15 - Going back a number of years when we heard about security threats, few understood the consequence, many thought it was just a sales pitch… But we've all learned it's much more - Effective security is a life saver. Applied Trust solves hard IT problems and they do that using a framework called 'Secure Dev Ops'. At Ned McClain, CEO, Applied Trustthe highest level Secure Dev Ops is at least two things. The unification of development and operations. Those two parts of a traditional IT organization - we add the third leg, security. Often times we say security has been the pariah of IT, tucked off in a corner in its own little department - and maybe a little bit of conflict between the rest of the business. The reality is we are in a space where we have to bring those together in an extraordinarily integrated way. Today we can apply the dev ops principles to any business, no matter what size - if they use software this helps - and is relevant from the startup to the SMB to the enterprise... Listen for more...

Gary Seaber, CEO/Founder, IT Liquidators When you recycle there's a lot of power and energy involved
enclosure-voice 1712_ 4/20/15 - Here at C-Level @ A Mile High 2015, we are running into so many industry leaders. It's a super exciting event. We've snatched Gary Seaber, CEO/Founder of IT Liquidators for a little chat. We asked Gary to tell our listeners about IT Liquidators. "We've been in business for 12 years this June. We buy excess technology from companies that are in transition. So as they upgrade to new equipment or downsize, whether they merge or consolidate. We're actually interested in buying from companies, their older technology. We bring that older equipment into our refurbishment center in Denver, upgrade and resell it online. We want to help companies create a sustainable model of reuse instead of just sending it to a recycler who charges you 35-cents a pound to take it away, I want to pay them for their remarket-able equipment. We also insure that any data left on that equipment is wiped to DOD standards, and...
